Subject: gratuit vs libre in French messages for localedef
Date: Tue, 7 Dec 1999 15:02:14 +0000 (GMT)
To: submit(a)bugs.debian.org
X-Mailer: VM 6.62 under Emacs 19.34.1
Package: libc6
Version: 2.1.2-1
[ Disclaimer: I'm not a native French speaker! ]
The French message text for localedef -V appears to claim that the
program is free-beer-free (`gratuit') rather than free-speech-free
(`libre'):
chiark:~$ LANG=fr localedef -V
localedef (GNU libc) 2.1.2
Copyright Free Software Foundation, Inc.
Ce logiciel est gratuit; voir les sources pour les conditions de

COMMERCIALES que pour REPONDRE A UN BESOIN PARTICULIER.

Certainly the translation of the GPL at
http://www.linux-france.org/article/these/gpl.html seems to prefer
`libre' to `gratuit'.
